Checkers
Checkers are fun and easy to
learn. The object of the game is to block or capture all the other players
checkers. There are two players that play and you play with a board with
64 squares on the board. Each person has 12 checkers. One player has dark
colored checkers and the other player has light colored checkers. Checkers
are on the board in three rows of dark spaces in front of you and the other
player. You can move your checkers forward diagonally to a dark space.
You can jump the other player’s checkers and capture it. When you
reach the other player’s territory you become a king. When you’re
a
king you get to backwards or forwards. When a game ends you can tell
who wins by who captured all the other player’s checkers. Another
way is if the other player’s checkers are impossible to move.
Another name for checkers
is draughts, as it is called in England. Checkers were played in ancient
Egypt. Checkers did not appear until about the year 1200, probably
in southern France. I think it’s a fun game that you can play with
2 people. I think it’s a challenging game because you have to be
careful what move you make. It’s fun when you have captured all the
other player’s checkers. I played checkers for my first time when I was
6 years old.
