My Mum played the Farmer Wants a Wife
Carol is 31 years old and tells us about a game played when aged 9-12. My school break times: My mum used to do handstands in the toilets My favourite school playground game: “The Farmer Wants a Wife”.

How to play: You make a big circle holding hands. Then you pick someone to go in the middle and you walk around that person saying a chant and when its finished, the person in the middle picks someone that chanted and that person goes in the middle and the people start chanting again.

What you need: People
Special game location, surface or design: Almost any type of surface will do.
Special rhymes, songs or language used: "The Farmer wants a wife Ee oh my daddy oh the farmer wants a wife the wife wants a child ee oh my daddy oh the mother wants a child a child a child..." and so on. (Amanda Dewer)
