"The Chinese Ropes"
Cathy is 43 years old and tells
us about a game played when aged 8. My school break times: We liked to
play Chinese ropes, peever and ball during break times.
My favourite school playground
game: My favourite playground game was “The Chinese Ropes”.
How to play: The rules are
one person goes to each end of the rope spinning it whilst the third person
jumps between the rope. It is played cooperatively, indoors by between
3 and 12 players - girls, aged from 5 years to 14 years.
What you need: You need at
least 3 people and skipping ropes for this game. Special game location,
surface or design: In the street, the playground and a hard surface.
Special rhymes, songs or
language used:
On a mountain stands a lady,
Who she is I do not know....was
the rhyme that my mum did. (Jamie Collins, 10 years old)
