Christmas in Bavaria, Germany
Each year on December 24th, we celebrate Christmas. In the days leading up to Christmas the department stores are packed. The children are busily working on their presents. The houses are decorated festively and Christmas trees are put up.

In the morning the excited children wake up. The parents make their children wash themselves and dress nicely, in order to get to church on time. In church a nativity play takes place, which the children of the community have been practicing with the priest. Afterwards the children and their parents rush home to prepare the celebration. The parents send their children to their bedrooms before they start decorating the Christmas tree and putting the presents underneath it. Mum prepares dinner in the kitchen. Mostly you eat roast goose, but that is different in every family. Now, the Christmas bells ring.

Finally the children are allowed to enter the living room. But before they can open their presents you have to sing Christmas carols, like "Silent Night, Holy Night", or "Oh Christmas tree". After that the children may open their presents. Very often the family then plays a game, before they eat dinner.
This is one way to celebrate Christmas very happily.
