Children as Part of Worldwide Traditions
Children's Day in Turkey
Mehmet Ali Comert from Turkey

Each society has special holidays. They can be religious, national or cultural, but everybody celebrates them according to their customs. Like each nation, my country, Turkey, has a lot of holidays. Children's holiday on April 23 is one of those we celebrate with all the world.

There are many ways to celebrate that holiday and reach in children's hearts. Elementary and secondary school students in each school prepare for this holiday for two months. On the day of this holiday, the students do their traditional dances with music in a big field. Some of them do gymnastics or karate, and some of them march in uniform saluting the people like soldiers. They try to make people have a good time.

Some people celebrate this holiday by watching TV. On that day, we can watch all the children from different countries. They represent their countries by singing and dancing their dances with smiling, happy faces.
