Title: Alamo
Author: Valerie Shearer
Codes: DS9, O, B, PG
Description: A very depressed Julian Bashir visits his friend Miles on post-war Earth. Winner of ASC's "Best DS9 Story for 1999."

Title: Angle and Plane
Author: Lori Summers
Codes: DS9, O/K, PG-13
Description: Odo accepts a very dangerous mission for the Federation, but what unexpected consequences will come of it? Romance, cello concerts, action 'n adventure, much whup-ass, chases, mysterious Section 31 operatives, Quark crying, near-death experiences, a blue-haired Dominion resistance fighter, a scenic but dangerous galactic spaceport and promises to give Morn a pedicure...
Dacia's Rec: This story was highly addictive....I loved the blending of romance against the Dominion War plus the introduction of a highly effective original character.
Tobybeth's Rec: A riveting, on-the-edge-of-your-computer-chair story. The suspense alone keeps you reading until the very end. A brilliant minor character addition of Nam Dietzbader.

Title: The Elim and Elmo Show
Author: Cardie-ologist
Codes: pre-DS9, Garak, Dukat, G
Description: Why is it that Garak and Dukat just don't get along? Maybe taking a look into the past will answer that question...

Title: House of Cards
Author: Catherine "Kasia" Henke
Codes: DS9, all
Description: One of the senior staff is a changeling...
Dacia's Rec: Great dialogue in this piece and more importantly....the characters stay in character!
Tobybeth's Rec: Excellent dialogue, everyone in character--almost seemed like an actual episode written by Moore or Echevarria.

Title: I Have No Tears and I Must Cry
Author: Michael Roy Hollihan
Codes: DS9, Odo
Description: With apologies to Harlan Ellison; a very different Odo and his very different relationship to Major Kira.
Beau's Rec: Michael has a way of making Odo be an alien rather than just another human with an alien suit on. This is written in emulation of Harlan Ellison, and Mike does a wonderful job.

Title: Kalevian Montar
Author: Marlissa Campbell
Codes: DS9, Kira, Dukat/Naprem, R
Description: Ziyal asks Kira to look into the background of her mother, Tora Naprem. Kira undertakes the project reluctantly, but what she learns challenges her preconceived notions about past events. The story is set around the time of "In Purgatory's Shadow"/"By Inferno's Light". Winner of the 1997 ASC award for best DS9 fanfic.
Dacia's Rec: Probably one of the best Kira/Dukat stories I've read. No romance, but an intriguing journey into the past.
Tobybeth's Rec: Who WAS Tora Naprem, really? A nice backstory of a character that the canon storylines neglected.

Title: A Lonely Place to Be
Author: Cecy Pelz
Codes: DS9, Kira, some O/K
Description: Kira's thoughts and feelings after the events of "What You Leave Behind."
Dacia's Rec: There are few Trek stories that really stay with you after reading them and this is one of them. I also liked that the author made very effective use of the first person pov.

Title: Oswecim
Author: Gabrielle Lawson
Codes: Bashir, DS9 all
Description: A Klingon ship with Cardassian registry runs at the station and then veers off toward Earth. The Defiant must follow, unknowingly carrying a changeling infiltrator. Just as the ship nears Earth, it changes course and heads right for the sun: a trip that takes it four centuries into the past to--1943. Winner of the 1998 ASC award for best DS9 story.
Dacia's Rec: Subject matter aside, this is a very well-thought out story with detailed characterizations and riverting dialogue.

Title: Time Destined
Author: Carrie Gascoigne
Codes:W/D, PG-13
Description: In two timelines, one present, one future, lines are crossed and a skeptical and devoted Worf must go to Jadzia and forever change the history she's lived. Winner of the Crown of Erin 1999 for best Worf/Dax fanfic.
Dacia's Rec: Time travel stories usually make me run the other way, but this one was deftly done and well-explained.

Title: Too Many Vortas
Author: Victoria Meredith
Codes:Dmr/Kilana, G, We, Keevan, R
Description: The Dominion War gets turned on its ear in this story of political intrigue and adventure, humor and romance, angst and a whole lot of kanar. In this shake up of the war, a drunken Damar rebels in a completely different way with Garak at his side and a multitude of Vortas getting in their way and at least one getting in Damar's bed. Guest appearances by Kira and Odo, Worf, Ezri and Sisko and a special cameo by Grand Nagus Zek. It's time to kiss the Jem'Hadar good-bye and say hello to way, way too many Vortas! ASC Award Winner 2000 - Best General Pairings

Title: Untitled
Author: Megan Levens
Codes: DS9, Jadzia/Bashir
Description: Instead of leaving the planet in "Children of Time," the crew crashes. Julian and Jadzia spend a lot of time together, but what about Worf?
Dacia's Rec: Angst galore. There are some lovely moments in this bittersweet romantic piece.

Title: What You Come Back To
Author: Shawn Layton,Christy Linnell, Alema Marshall, Christie Zizo, Sharon Monroe Kate Hilgenberg,Wendy B. Schwertner, Kim Riley
Codes: DS9, all
Description: These authors have picked up where DS9 left off; the stories form an arc in the aftermath of the Dominion War and the other events of DS9's season seven.
Dacia's Rec: Compelling drama all around. The crew, still struggling with the trauma of the Dominion War and their collective losses, are portrayed extremely well and true to character.
