6 to 12 Months Before Your Wedding

Select a Date and Time for your wedding (and possibly a backup date)
Announce your engagement to immediate family.
Announce your engagement to friends, relatives and in the daily paper.
Hold an engagement party with family and friends
Consider using a bridal consultant or wedding coordinator to assist with wedding planning.
Attend bridal shows in your area. They provide great ideas and contacts.
Decide what style of wedding you want.
Decide who will pay for what and how expenses will be shared. Compile a preliminary budget.
Prepare a preliminary guest list.
Book church, celebrant or registry office.
Start thinking about ideas/themes for your reception.
Book reception venue.
Book professional caterers and hire companies (if required)
If you want to look your best on your wedding start health and fitness plan now.
Decide what type of music and entertainment you would like for the ceremony and reception.
Start thinking about your floral requirements.
Shop together and decide on wedding rings.
Start thinking about outfits for bridal party. Decide whether to buy, make or hire.
Think about cake design. Discuss with cake designers.

Discuss honeymoon locations with travel agents.

3 to 6 Months Before the Wedding

Arrange the marriage license
Work out ceremony with minister or celebrant. Research and select readings for ceremony, and choose who  you would like to read them.
Organise music for ceremony. For church weddings, make an appointment to see organist.
Organise attendants.
Finalise guest list.
Decide on wording and layout for invitations. Place orders with Stationers.
Order all other stationery requirements such as place cards, thankyou cards, cake bags, table napkins.....
Book entertainment for reception.
Select your professional photographer and videographer.
Decide on outfits and order. Have first fitting of wedding dress.
Select floral designer.
Select and discuss your colour schemes and decorations for ceremony and reception.
Order cake.
Finalise gift list.
Book honeymoon. (Renew passport if required)
Review details with all of your vendors and service providers.

2 Months Before Your Wedding

Send invitations
Obtain documentation from marriage celebrant, fill it out and return.
Select speech makers.
Select your MC.
Order floral arrangements and flowers for the bridal party.
Organise accommodation for out-of-town attendants and guests
Inform gusts of guest list
Book hairdresser and/or makeup artist.
Arrange more dress fittings for bride and bridesmaids.
Buy Bride's and Bridesmaids shoes.
Buy underwear, lingerie and honeymoon wardrobe.
Organise practice ceremony.
Book hire cars.
Finalise all honeymoon plans. Get vaccinations if required

Final 2-3  Weeks

Pick up rings, make sure the engravings are correct.
Ensure celebrant has required papers.
Pick up Bride and Bridesmaids dresses after final fitting.
Make sure your accessories are in order (rings, pillow, garter....)
Confirm final numbers
Plan seating arrangements.
Write names on all placecards.
Finalise music during special events such as first dance, last dance, dance with father....
Pre-wedding functions and parties.
Buy gifts for attendants.
Confirm all bookings and arrangements
Honeymoon - Collect tickets, organise foreign currency necessities.

Last Week

Make sure your marriage license is in order
Write out timetable for wedding day
Full wedding rehearsal with main participants.
Inform your wedding party on what they will be doing on the day of the wedding and the timetable for the day.
Pack for honeymoon.
Pack for the Wedding Night
Account for any last minute changes to seating plan.
Confirm cake delivery.
Confirm out-of-town guests have transportation and accommodation.

Your Wedding Day

Have bridal flowers delivered to relevant addresses.
Hair, makeup and nails for the bride and bridesmaids. Determine how much time they require and organise your preparation accordingly.
Allow at least two hours for dressing
If photographs are to be taken at the brides home, allow plenty of time for that.
Remember to bring the rings.
Cars arrive.
Relax and enjoy the day.
