	Before making a final decision on your choice of caterer there are several important questions you need ask and issues that will require clarification.
	THE IMPORTANT CATERER QUESTIONS How does the caterer charge? Caterers may charge on a per person basis, consumption basis (often used for liquor if supplied by the caterer) or for a fixed number of guests. What type of food service is offered? Sit-down, buffet, banquet..... What are the meal options? Do they specialise in a particular cuisine? Do they make provisions for guests with special dietary needs such as vegetarian, low fat, low cholesterol...... Ask to see photos and references of previous receptions or function the caterer has done. What will the ratio of staff to guests be? How will they be dressed? What other services and party supplies do they provide? ie. clean-up services, cutlery, table and chairs, marquees, band or DJ hire, flower arrangements, wedding co-ordination...... Most caterers will originally provide you with a quote based upon meal prices at the time. Ask for an estimate of how much the prices will vary from the time of the quote to the day of your wedding. Some caterers may provide a price guarantee. When comparing costs of various caterers find out exactly what the quotes include. ie. food, alcohol, serving staff, cutlery, glasses, tables, chairs, band, wedding cake, wedding co-ordination...... Is there a refund policy if you have to cancel for whatever reason? What happens with the leftover food? If the caterer supplies crockery and glasses, what are their breakage charges? Clarify exactly what you want the caterer to hire and you will provide. After deciding on a caterer ensure everything is confirmed in writing. This will prevent any unpleasant surprises on the day.
