We are finally into the part of the tournament we have all been waiting for in the CSA T20 Challenge 2021/22. The semifinals draw are fixed and we are up for an exciting bout of the knockout matches that are to be played among the four best sides of the tournament thus far.
Up next in the competition, Western Province are set to take on Boland Rocks in the second semifinal of the competition. Needless to say, both sides will be coming out all guns blazing with a spot in the final at stake. The match between the two sides is to be played at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth on 25th February 2022.
Western Province started off in a terrific fashion, winning all of their first five matches before losing steam in the back-end of the league stage. The two back-to-back losses in their recent matches could very well act as a wake-up call for Western Province, who otherwise looked in the fabulous form in the first half of the competition.
Make no mistake though, Western Province finished pretty well on the points table, at the second spot with not a lot of difference between them and the Titans. Not only that, they finished with fantastic a fantastic net run rate that was second only to that of the Titans.
Even though Western Province were pretty good overall in the league stage, they would want to make several amends coming into this upcoming match. The fact that they have lost both of their last two matches might have a bit of a detrimental effect on their confidence. On paper, however, Western Province have a terrific side that has all their bases covered.
The presence of experience in their order right throughout provides them with an immaculate ability to deal with high-pressure moments. Also, they have multiple versatile all-rounders, who provide them with depth in batting without taking anything away from their bowling. They would be looking to regain that form they were in early in the tournament and if they can do that, getting past them could prove to be very challenging going forward.

Considering the kind of start the Rocks got off to, they would be jubilant after getting into the top-four. They were languishing near the earlier the bottom of the ladder in the earlier half of the tournament and just about the time when things were looking difficult for them, they bounced back with remarkable authority.
At the end of the league stage, Boland Rocks finished with 17 points to their name, tied on points with the Dolphins. Prior to their last match's defeat at the hands of the Knights, they registered four back-to-back wins and should be brimming with confidence owing to that.
Against the Knights, Boland Rocks looked in a remarkably good position right throughout the match before bottling it up towards the end. Bowling first on an excellent surface to bat on, the Rocks managed to restrict Knights to a total of just 164, which was very chase-able right from the outset. They went well about their business with the bat with all of their top-four beings amongst the runs. However, they managed to score just seven runs in the last over wherein they needed 11, losing the match by a narrow margin of three runs.
On paper, the Rocks have a pretty good side with an experienced batting unit. Although they do look a little light in the bowling department, their bowlers have done pretty well in the build-up to the knockouts. If they are able to do how they did recently in the matches that they won, getting past them would take very heavy lifting.

With a final spot at stake, both sides will be coming out hard at each other. Both sides are coming off a loss respectively in their last match and will be desperate to bounce back to the winning ways. Even though Western Province appear to be a better-balanced side on paper, Boland Rocks have had a better recent time. They have the momentum and that could be a crucial factor going into a knockout match. Considering that and the odds on offer, we will be placing our bets on a Boland Rocks win and so should you.
