The Wellington Firebirds are going to be tough to beat in the Super Smash. They have some very good players to form the core of their side. Finn Allen is perhaps the most exciting young batsman in New Zealand right now and he leads the batting lineup. Doug Bracewell is the established all-rounder in the middle, while Logan van Beek and Hamish Bennett are the lead bowlers.
Just the presence of these players makes the Firebirds pretty tough to beat but they also have a few other very good players in their ranks.
We think Peter Georgeson with the bat and Peter Younghusband with the ball could also make a name for themselves in this edition of the Super Smash.

The Central Districts started with a confident victory and chased down 184 with ease. That win was because of a brilliant inning from Dane Cleaver who scored 114 not out to seal the chase.
Look a bit closer, though, and that is when you see that the Central Districts did not have a great game even though they ended up winning. The bowling attack was mediocre with only Rance and Lennox making some sort of an impact.
Also, the batting unit failed apart from Hay and Cleaver who carried the team.
The bones of a strong team are definitely present in the Central Stags squad but we are not convinced about them just yet.
