This next match between the Wellington Firebirds and the Auckland Aces in the Super Smash 2021-22 is going to be one between the bottom two teams of the league right now. The Firebirds have played three matches and won just one of them while the Auckland Aces have lost both matches that they have played.
The cricket betting sites have given shorter odds to the Wellington Firebirds but not by much.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Wellington Firebirds vs Auckland Aces Super Smash 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Basin Reserve, Wellington on the 24th of December 2021.
The Wellington Firebirds continued to underperform a bit their batting lineup failed in the previous match as well. There were some positive signs from the short stay that Finn Allen had at the crease but the Firebirds are looking for something far more substantial from their star performer.
Troy Johnson and Michael Bracewell are the other two leading batsmen in the side and they also seem to be in pretty decent form. It is clear, however, that the performances of Finn Allen are a huge factor in how well the Wellington Firebirds do.
The Firebirds have a very good bowling attack at their disposal. Hamish Bennett has a lot of experience and is dangerous with the new ball. Logan van Beek is another international bowler who has a knack for picking up wickets. Add Peter Younghusband and Michael Bracewell to the lineup and there are no real weak links in the bowling attack.
Finn Allen, Tim Robinson, Troy Johnson, Michael Bracewell, Nathan Smith, Jamie Gibson, Logan van Beek, Peter Younghusband, Ben Sears, Ollie Newton, Hamish Bennett.
The Auckland Aces were bowled out for 92 in the previous match. They continued their poor batting form and the team would certainly be hoping for a lot more from its batting unit. We actually think this may be a good opportunity to get behind the Auckland Aces. Martin Guptill, George Worker, and Mark Chapman are all quality batsmen that are bound to come good sooner rather than later. On paper, the Auckland Aces are just as dangerous a batting lineup as the Wellington Firebirds are.
The bowling lineup is very dependent on Lockie Ferguson. He is easily one of the best in the world when it comes to the T20 format but he needs a bit of support from his teammates. We can see very little quality apart from Ferguson that can help keep the Wellington Firebirds batsmen under check.
George Worker, Martin Guptill, Mark Chapman, Cole Briggs, Robert O'Donnell, Ben Horne, Sean Solia, Lockie Ferguson, Louis Delport, Adithya Ashok, Benjamin Lister.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

The conditions in Wellington are going to be very good for cricket. There is no rain predicted and the surface is going to be quite balanced. The pitch is flat and offers a nice amount of bounce, however, the new ball does tend to do a bit. Both teams have opening batsmen integral to their success and so the team that sees off the powerplay without losing too many wickets could emerge the winner.
We think this is a good match to back the upset. The Auckland Aces are a weaker bowling unit for sure but they do have some exceptionally talented players in their lineup. Martin Guptill or Lockie Ferguson can break open the match in the matter of a few overs and that is we are going to take the better odds on offer.
Bet on the Auckland Aces to win.
