COVID-19 has forced many changes to cricket schedules around the world and it seems as if the women's game is affected a bit more than the men's. The Arachas Super 50 ODI tournament is the pinnacle of women's domestic cricket in Ireland and is usually played between three teams. This year, though, that has been reduced to just two teams playing each other in a prolonged bilateral series.

Scorchers Women have won two out of the four matches they have played, lost one, and the remaining match was rained out. Gaby Lewis and Lara Maritz have been the best batters for the Scorchers Women so far.
They are the only players from the Scorchers to get a 50 plus score in the tournament so far. Gaby Lewis has 94 as her highest score and would love to go not to get a century in the remaining matches.
Sophie McMahon is the other batter that has been impressive and gotten off to consistent starts. In terms of batting strength and depth, the Scorchers appear to be stronger than the typhoons for sure.
Lara Maritz is also a good bowler with four scalps in the tournament so far. Cara Murray and Leah Paul have five wickets each and lead the attack right now. With Sophie McMahon also a capable bowler, the balance of the Scorchers Women is quite good.

The Typhoons are pretty good in the batting department as well. They have the only centurion of the tournament so far in Orla Prendergast. She is a powerful striker of the ball and a match-winner but her consistency leaves a lot to be desired. Apart from her 116 in one inning, she just has 6 runs in the other two matches.
Rachel Delany and Sarah Forbes are the other batters to watch out for in this lineup. They also have one fifty-plus score each to their names and can be considered to be in good form.
Prendergast and Delany also lead the bowling attacks with five wickets each. It is this lack of performances from the other players that makes us a bit wary. When you see just a couple of names dominating every aspect of the game then you know that the depth in talent is just not there.

The conditions in Kilock are cloudy and some rain has been forecast for match day. We could have a delay or even a complete wash-out. The pitch is not too bad, everything considered and has allowed the batters to score freely after getting set.
A score of around 230 should be seen as par batting first.
We are going to back the Scorchers to get their third win over the Typhoons. There is not too much to choose between the teams but the fact that more players are contributing for the Scorchers is a good sign.
