IPL 2022 has gotten off to a great start with most of the matches being closely fought so far. This is going to be the second match for both the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). RCB lost its previous match to the Punjab Kings while KKR managed to pretty much demolish CSK in its opening encounter.
The IPL betting sites are still favoring RCB as the slight favorite in this match even though the recent head-head is loaded in favor of KKR. Could this be a betting opportunity to explore? Let us try and have a closer look.
Match prediction and IPL betting tips for RCB vs KKR IPL 2022. The match is going to be played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on the 30th of March 2022.
RCB showed some very positive signs in the first match it played even though it ended up on the losing side. It hit 13 sixes in its inning, all the batsmen got starts, and Faf du Plessis showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with. Perhaps most importantly, Kohli played a fluent knock where he was very enterprising against the spinners.
RCB still ended up on the losing side, though, largely because of its poor bowling performance. Mohammad Siraj, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Akash Deep had a match to forget. On paper, RCB has a lot of bowling depth and we expect it to put up a better fight this time around.
There is a lot to like here in terms of batting depth and overall team balance. The only thing that we did not like was the fact that RCB ended up facing a lot of dot balls at the start and that eventually made the difference in the end.

KKR started brilliantly in its first match thanks to a brilliant opening spell from Umesh Yadav. He picked up two early wickets and did not bowl any freebies, something that you cannot always expect from Umesh Yadav. Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine dried up runs in the middle but Andre Russell and Shivam Mavi gave away runs at the death.
KKR's team did not use Venkatesh Iyer in the previous match but you can expect to see him bowl his arm over as well if the team requires it.
The batting effort from KKR was not the most convincing but it did not have to be. Ajinkya Rahane played well and could be someone to keep an eye on in the coming matches as well. The pitches in Mumbai suit his style and he loves opening the batting.
Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer, and Sam Billings form a pretty strong lineup with Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in there as well. There is a lot of flexibility in this lineup as well as a lot of power.
We think the KKR team is being a bit underrated by the IPL betting sites right now.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. All four matches played in Mumbai have been won by the team that has chased. With dew setting in consistently, the chasing team has a big advantage and you must take that into consideration while placing your bets.

The pitch at the DY Patil Stadium is a brilliant one. There were over 400 runs scored in the previous match, 27 sixes hit, and we think the same could be in store for this match as well. The straight boundaries are quite short but the square boundaries are large and allow the spinners to also play a part.
We think anything around 180-190 is the least that teams batting first are going to aim for.

We are going to bet on the Kolkata Knight Riders to win. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that we think KKR has more flexibility in its lineup to aim for favorable matchups. It has left-handers to attack RCB's spinners, Sunil Narine has a great record against Kohli, and Russell loves playing against RCB as well.
We also think KKR is being underrated and you can take advantage of the odds. There will most likely be plenty of opportunities to hedge your bets during the match if you start with a bet on KKR.
Bet on the Kolkata Knight Riders to win.
This is our favorite bet for this match. There were 27 sixes hit in the previous match at the DY Patil Stadium. RCB alone hit more than 12.5 sixes in its inning. We think odds of 1.75 are brilliant taking the stats into consideration.
There is no doubting the kind of form that Shreyas Iyer is in. He has played all his cricket in Mumbai and knows the conditions as well as anyone in this match. He is also likely to bat at three (or four) and should have enough time to score the runs needed.
Once again, we come back to the sixes because we just cannot believe the kind of odds being offered. Even if RCB hits half of the sixes it hit in its previous match, you will be at the Over/Under line being offered. Definitely worth a punt considering the conditions and the form of the players.
Karthik seems to be the designated finisher for RCB and looked to be in great touch during the previous match. He may also be used to disrupt the spinners in the middle of the inning. A small bet on him seems to be worth the risk.
