It's only been just three days since the CSA T20 Challenge 2022 started and we are already quite some way into the tournament. Western Province have arguably been the best side up until now and their position on the points table reflects that. Dolphins and North West Dragons are both breathing right down their neck and the next few matches are going to be very interesting.
Up next in the competition, North West Dragons are set to take on the Knights in what is a game of massive importance for both these sides. A win here for the Dragons will put them at the top of the ladder whereas a win for the Knights will get them off the bottom of the ladder. Both these sides will be desperate for a win here and are all set to produce a cracker of a contest. The match between the two sides is to be played on 10th February 2022 at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth.
North West Dragons will be pretty relieved after scoring their first win of the tournament in their match against the Lions. The Dragons looked under the pump for the most part of their match and thanks to some brilliant individual performances, they finally managed to crawl home with a narrow win.
Batting first after losing the toss, North West Dragons never looked in control with the bat. Their top-order batsmen in Heino Kuhn, Wesley Marshall, van den Bergh, and Senuran Muthusamy all got starts but none of them could go on to score a big one. Just when they looked down and out with 6 down for 76 runs, Pongolo and Duan Jensen combined to take their total to 136, which just proved to be enough as their bowlers bowled remarkably well.
It will not always happen that their bowlers will rescue them from such tricky situations. North West Dragons clearly have some gaps on paper that they would want to address before it gets too late. They would want their experienced players to contribute big with the bat. Their bowling, although lacks experience, looks good with a plethora of talented options available. All in all, the Dragons have a capable unit but will need to play out of their skins against stronger sides. If they are able to do that in this upcoming match against the Knights, they should cruise to a win here.
NJ Van den Bergh, Heino Kuhn, Wesley Marshall, Lesego Senokwane, Dwaine Pretorius, Senuran Muthusamy, Nono Pongolo, Chad Classen, Caleb Seleka, Johannes Diseko, Duan Jansen.
Just like the Dragons, the Knights were a part of a low-scoring match in their first outing, but they weren't as fortunate as the Dragons as their bowlers couldn't really hide a poor batting performance by the Knights. They suffered a massive loss at the hands of the Dolphins and are now sitting at the bottom of the table, thanks to their terrible net run rate.
Batting first on a decent surface, the Knights were able to put a total of just 128 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Despite having some of the most experienced names in South Africa's domestic cricket, their batting was not able to muster even a par score. van Tonder, Jacques Snyman, Pite van Biljon, and Farhaan Behardien all got starts but none of them played aggressively enough. The Knights managed to put just 128 runs in total, which was chased rather easily by the Dolphins.
The bowlers didn't really have much to defend on a surface that didn't offer a lot for the bowlers. The likes of Migael Pretorius, Alfred Mothoa, and Patrick Botha did well, but the total was a little too low to cause any troubles for the Dolphins' batsmen.
On paper, the Knights have a decent side loaded with the right amalgamation of experience and talent. They were ordinary with the execution in their first match and should put up an improved performance going forward. If they are able to play to their on-paper potential in this upcoming contest.
Mangaliso Mosehle, Patrick Kruger, Raynard van Tonder, Migael Pretorius, Jacques Snyman, Jason Raubenheimer, Gregory Mahlokwana, Alfred Mothoa, Gerald Coetzee, PJ van Biljon, Farhaan Behardien.

The two sides set to meet each other in this upcoming match are virtually placed at almost opposite ends of the points table and will be determined to register a win here for different reasons. While North West Dragons looked a better side in the first respective matches of the two sides, the Knights have a better-balanced side. For that reason and the ones stated above, the Knights are favorites here. Bet on the Knights to register a win here in this all-important contest.
