Nepal is going to be playing its first match of the Oman T20 Series against Hong Kong. It is an interesting match because both these teams were considered equals not too long ago. Now, Nepal has risen in the hierarchy and is being visualized as the next ‘Afghanistan’ in terms of rapid rise through cricketing ranks.
Hong Kong lost its opening match to Oman and will have to raise its game significantly to be able to overcome Nepal.
Nepal vs Hong Kong is going to be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amarat, Oman on the 6th of October 2019.
Nepal was beaten by Singapore just a few days ago in the T20 series and a couple of times by Zimbabwe as well. These are not the kind of results that Nepal is going to be hoping for as it builds towards the T20 World Cup 2019.
There are a lot of areas in which Nepal needs to improve but its batting is the biggest one.
Paras Khadka is the only real batsman of note in the Nepal side. He helped Nepal won one match against Singapore in which he became the first Nepalese batsman to score an international T20 century.
However, in the other games, he could not fire and Nepal's batting just collapsed.
Dipender Singh Airee was a big disappointment and often times it was Sompal Kami down the order that would get some big blows towards the end.
The bowling is going to be led by Sandeep Lamichhane. He should enjoy the conditions in Oman and be able to take a lot of wickets. He, Sompal Kami, and Paras Khadka are going to be the main bowlers for Nepal in this match.

An extremely poor batting performance from Hong Kong saw them score just 96 in the opening match. None of its players were able to get past 20 and a total of two sixes were hit in the entire inning.
No boundaries, not enough strike rotation, and just a general lack of intent shows just how weak the Hong Kong batting is. We think they are going to struggle against the bowling of Sandeep Lamichhane and could just end up playing him out without any attempt to score off him.
Ahsan Abbasi and Nizakat Khan are the two batsmen that must score well if Hong Kong has to have a chance.
There was nothing to write home about in the bowling department as well. None of the bowlers were able to have any impact against the Oman batsmen. Now, with all due respect to Oman, its batting lineup is pretty ordinary when compared to sides like Ireland and the Netherlands. If Hong Kong struggled against Oman then it is going to find the going pretty tough against Nepal as well.

The pitch in Oman tends to stay much the same over the course of the tournament held over there and we think that is what is going to happen in this series as well. The pitch should remain flat and good for batting but the pace off the wicket is going to be slow.

We think Nepal should be able to get the better of Hong Kong in this encounter. Nepal’s bowling is definitely better than Hong Kong and even though both sides have a weak batting lineup, Paras Khadka from Nepal is the best batsman in this match by far.
