It's the T20 season and even though the Big Bash League 2021 is coming to its closing stages, we have plenty of T20 action lined up next. Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistan Super League are set to be played over the next few weeks, which promise to be full of action-packed cricket.
Bangladesh Premier League is set to begin on 21st January 2021 with Chattogram Challengers taking on Fortune Barishal. The same venue of Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka will also host the second match of the day that is to be played between Khulna Tigers and Minster Group Dhaka. Given the two sides, a cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards.
With the team lineup that they have, Khulna Tigers certainly seem to be following the template that England's national team has executed so perfectly. They have a team built around all-rounders, who lend excellent balance between the bat and the ball. They have never won the title up until now, but they will certainly be fancying doing so this time around under the leadership of Mushfiqur Rahim.
With Lance Klusner as a coach, Bangladesh have ensured that they get their team-selection strategy spot-on. Almost all of their player choices are tailor-made in the Bangladeshi conditions and that will be one advantage that the Tigers will enjoy. The likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Rony Talukder, Andre Fletcher, and Yasir Ali have all done pretty well in whatever matches they have played and form the backbone of the Tigers' batting.
Their trump-cards, arguably, are the all-rounders in Thisara Perera, Seekkuge Prasanna, Mahedi Hasan, and Sikandar Raza. Not all of them will be available to start in the first match, though. Bowling-wise, the Tigers do look a bit over-reliant on Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Naveen Ul Haq. They both are pretty handy bowlers in all stages of the game and if they get support from the rest of the bowlers, this bowling attack will look formidable.
Tigers' biggest strength is undoubtedly the experience and balance they have and they will need their experienced players to come good here in this match. If that happens, taking Khulna Tigers down will be a very difficult task to do for most sides in this competition.

A lot was going for this franchise as far as ownership was concerned and despite that, they managed to get some pretty good players in the draft. This team relies heavily on experience and that is evident by the selection of three of the most senior players available in the draft. The likes of Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, and Mashrafe Mortaza will form the backbone of this side and their experience could prove to be very useful if taking this team to new heights.
Having said all that, all of those players seem to be well past their prime as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned and will need ample support from the rest of the players. The likes of Mohammad Naim, Shamsur Rahman, and Jaharul Islam are pretty talented players and will add to the balance of the squad. Besides, the experienced quartet of Mohammad Shahzad, Qais Ahmed, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Najib Zadran would be available as well.
Undoubtedly their trump card is going to be Andre Russell, who is also the most expensive purchase of the tournament. Apart from batting, he will need to shoulder loads of bowling with the likes of Isuru Udana, Rubel Hossain, and Farooqi.
All in all, Dhaka have a pretty good side on paper and a lot will depend on how their batsmen are able to perform. If the top-order batsmen are able to do the job for them, getting past them could be a very difficult task.

When available full-strength, Khulna Tigers are undoubtedly the better-balanced side between the two. However, the absence of key players have set their balance back and this match is perfectly poised on the knife's edge. Considering that experience could be pretty useful in the initial phase of the tournament, Dhaka seem ahead. Also, the presence of Andre Russell adds to the edge that they have. Considering that and return available on their win, betting on the Minster Group Dhaka is certainly the way to go here.
