The Caribbean Premier League 2021 is starting off with a match between the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) and the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). These two teams are probably the most successful teams in CPL history.
The Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions and were unbeaten the entire previous season. That is a feat that is going to be tough to emulate. Guyana Amazon Warriors did not have a good season the last time around but they have some of the best young batsmen in the Caribbean on their roster.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors have some very decent batsmen in their team and we don’t think you should take them lightly. They have Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, and Nicholas Pooran in their team to form a strong core.
We know that King had a poor previous season but he was the highest scorer in the CPL the season before. Also, Hetmyer and Pooran are very genuine superstars that can win matches on their own.
The overseas cast of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez is very experienced. Malik had a good PSL but his power-hitting has definitely gone down in recent matches. Hafeez has really taken to T20 cricket for Pakistan but his role in CPL is often unclear.
The bowling attack has Imran Tahir, Naveen ul Haq, Romario Shepherd, and Kevin Sinclair. The seam-bowling stocks look a bit thin and that is something that Warriors will have to work around.
A lot depends on how well the team’s young West Indian superstars start CPL 2021 but this is not a weak team at all.

The weather forecast for St. Kitts and Nevis is quite good, so we don’t expect any stoppages or DLS calculations to come into play. The pitch is generally flat, a bit slow, with a fast outfield. Out of eight completed matches, six have been won by the team chasing and that suggests that the pitch is not going to change much.
The highest total ever recorded in a T20 here is 182 by England against the West Indies.
We think something around 160 should be quite competitive.

The first match is the season brings with it a lot of unknowns about team strategies, player fitness, form, and conditions. We do think that the Trinbago Knight Riders are the favorites because of the power in their batting and a slightly superior bowling attack. That being said, this is a match where you want to have some money in your account to be able to hedge as the match goes on.

Lendl Simmons was in tremendous form for the West Indies against South Africa and Australia. He is expected to have recovered completely for the start of the CPL and we think he is going to make an immediate impact in this match. We are happy to back him to score some runs.
There is so much batting firepower on both sides that at least one of the batsmen should be able to get in and make the most of it. The risk here is that the pitch does not live up to expectations and makes batting difficult but that is unlikely to happen.
This is our favorite betting market for this match and we are going to recommend two picks! The first of those is Lendl Simmons who made it a habit to hit a six in the very first over that he faced against South Africa and Australia. He will hit a six even if he does not get a big score.
Pooran struggled with the bat in the international season but finally made it count against Australia. He is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball in world cricket right now. He is also likely to get plenty of overs to face in this match. We are happy to take a punt on him.
