Surrey finally lost its first match of the T20 Blast 2022 season as it went down to Sussex. It is still the clear leader of the South Group standings and in a great position to confirm its place in the playoffs. Up next is Essex, a team that has done quite well in the tournament. It has won six out of the eleven matches it has played and is in third on the league table.

Essex's batting is not the strongest. It has Rossington, Pepper, and Lawrence in the top order as the primary batters of the lineup.

Without Roy and Curran, though, this team is quite a bit more beatable. The batting does not have the same kind of depth and the bowling lineup lacks quality. Players like Laurie Evans and Daniel Worrall will have to provide more to the team and that is certainly possible.
