We are into the back-end of the tournament in the Vitality T20 Blast 2022 and with one match each to go for almost all teams, things are looking well settled with respect to the qualification scenarios. Essex Eagles are set to take on Glamorgan in the upcoming match that is practically a dead-rubber but will have an impact on where the Eagles or Glamorgan eventually finish on the ladder. The match between the two sides is to be played on the evening of 2nd July 2022 at the County Ground, Chelmsford.
Essex Eagles once used to be a force to reckon in the English domestic circuit but have not been at their best in recent years. Make no mistake, though, they are still a very formidable team to take on and we have seen that already in the tournament so far. They have already qualified for the knockouts and will now be longing to finish as high on the points table as possible.
As it currently stands on the ladder, the Eagles are placed at the third spot with 17 points to their name. In addition to that, they have 17 points coupled with the net run rate of 0.654. Another win here will push them to the second spot, provided Somerset lose their respective match but a loss, however, will allow Hampshire an opportunity to finish at the third spot.
Regardless of what the result is, Essex are already in the next round and may well decide to rest a few of their players. Having said that, momentum plays a crucial role in this format and they would want to take all of that into the knockouts. They have the team on paper and if they are able to play to their potential, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.

Glamorgan came into this tournament on the back of a terrible tournament after which the only way was upwards. While they have done well as compared to their outing in the last season, they would still be disappointed by their absolute performance. They are already out of the race for the playoffs but they would still want to win this one and end their campaign on a high. Not to forget, that they have one more game to play after this one.
On the points table at the moment, Glamorgan are placed at the sixth spot on the ladder and have 12 points in total. They have a neutral net run-rate of -0.002, but it isn't going to matter anyway. The absence of Marnus Labuschagne has certainly hurt them and they will be without him in this upcoming match too. They do have some fantastic players available to cover for him and if they are able to play to their potential, Glamorgan will be in business big time.
Tom Bevan, Sam Northeast, Colin Ingram, Billy Root, EJ Byrom, Chris Cooke, Daniel Douthwaite, Andrew Salter, Prem Sisodiya, Jamie McIlroy, Michael Hogan.
This may not be a match as important as some of the other matches in the tournament have been, both sides would still want to win here. Essex Eagles would want to keep the momentum going into the knockouts whereas Glamorgan will want to register a couple of more wins before signing off. Despite the reduced stakes, we expect both sides to come out all guns blazing in this one. Considering the lineups of the two sides on paper and their recent form, we would be placing our bets on an Essex win and so should you.
