The group stage of the Road Safety World Series 2021 edition is finally about to come to end more than a year after it started! Of course, COVID-19 was not something that anyone could have anticipated but it is still a trivia stat that might come up later!
England Legends and West Indies Legends are going to play their final group match against each other. This is an important match for both teams as the winner will qualify for the semi-finals.
England has one more win than West Indies coming into this match but its net run-rate is worse. As a result, if West Indies win this match, it will have the same points as England but a better run-rate to help it qualify.
England Legends vs West Indies Legends Road Safety World Series 2021 is going to be played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur on the 16th of March 2021.
England Legends have lost their previous two matches and are now in a must-win situation to try and qualify. It has been an interesting tournament for England as it has shown glimpses of brilliance like when it defeated India and some absolute ineptness as when it collapsed in front of Sri Lanka.
England’s batting has been very frail apart from Kevin Pietersen. He is still smashing the bowlers and if he stays for any significant length of time at the crease, he is going to damage the West Indian bowling for sure.
The support that Kevin Pietersen gets in the batting lineup is not very good. Owais Shah has joined the team and he will add some depth but Mustard, Afzaal, and Maddy need to pull their socks up.
Among the bowlers, Monty Panesar is the best bowler for England by a mile. Chris Tremlett, James Tredwell, and Matthew Hoggard are also going to be a part of the lineup and so the bowling is definitely not weak either.

The West Indies Legends have won just one match so far and they have not really been very competitive in the other matches either. That has been a bit of a surprise since they do have some pretty recent players in their lineup.
Dwayne Smith and Brian Lara lead the batting and while it would be great to see Lara reel off boundaries against England, the likelihood of that happening is slim. The game has moved on and age has slowed down the Prince of Cricket.
William Perkins and Ridley Jacobs got some runs in the previous match but overall the West Indian batting remains a bit weak.
Among the bowlers, Tino Best, Adam Sanford, Suleiman Benn, and Dwayne Smith round out a decent attack. On paper, this attack is no less threatening than what England has but the execution has not been very good by the islanders.
In fact, that is true for batting also. Looking at the two teams on paper, there is no much to choose between them. West Indies has struggled to find the right kind of form in this tournament.

The conditions in Raipur have been excellent for cricket and excellent for batting. That is going to continue. There is nothing that is going to drastically alter the nature of the pitch. It may become a bit slower but it is not going to be a dramatic difference from what we have seen so far.
