Double Rotation
(aka Minuet)

This is a pattern for four jugglers A, B, C and D. It can be juggled on a six count, a four count or a three count. The jugglers start in a square formation. On the first pass, A passes with B and C passes with D. The first passes are shown below:

After the first pass A and C swap places and so do B and D. A and D walk on the inside of the square whereas B and C walk on the outside.

On the second pass, A passes with B again and C passes with D again. This pass is shown in the next diagram:

After the second pass A and D make a quarter turn anti-clockwise while B and C make a quarter turn clockwise.

On the third pass A passes with C and B passes with D.

After the third pass A and B swap places and so do C and D. A and D walk on the inside of the square whereas B and C walk on the outside.

On the fourth pass, A passes with C again and B passes with D again. This pass is shown in the next diagram:

After the fourth pass A and D make a quarter turn anti-clockwise while B and C make a quarter turn clockwise.

On the fifth pass, A passes with B again and C passes with D again. This pass is shown in the next diagram:

This is identical to the starting position, except each juggler has moved around two places, so the whole pattern now repeats.
