Namaste! Welcome to the Kathmandu Page.

Nestled in a Valley, surrounded by the Highest Mountains in the World, Kathmandu beckons you to come visit and stay awhile. Capital of the Kingdom of Nepal, Kathmandu is a city of many contrasts. An ancient city, which opened its doors to the first foreigners in the early 1950's, still resolutely attempting to cling to its historical past.

Modernization has forever transformed this once pristine Valley. With the throngs of Visitors arriving daily, Kathmandu has experienced a construction boom and is expanding rapidly, almost out of control. The main thoroughfares have had a face change as old buildings have come down being replaced by brand new modern shopping centers and office buildings.

Fortunately, for those yearning for peace and the elusive "Shangri-La" you need only to take a short drive out of the city and suddenly you are in the midst of Nature's wonderland. As the stillness of the moment captivates you, peace and tranquility fills your soul. In the distance the paddy fields rise row upon row, carved out of the mountainside and resembling huge steps leading up into the clouds. Beyond this towers the mighty snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan Range. ~~~~~~John Kingsley.
