Homebrew Prom Programmer
This page goes back over 10 years and pertains to a programmer for XT, 286, etc computers. Spent so much time on this design I keep it as a fond memory. When Phillips discontinued manufacture of the bipolar proms interest quickly died. sigh
artwork(190k jpg) and after the board is built. Jameco (Belmont California) perports to have Signetics bipolar proms but has been substituting some brand which does not program in my programmer. Soooo, private sources are it. Jameco is a good source for parts to build the programming board. Note that Motorola originally used the MMI or National 74S series proms which NTE now has available. They require a totally different voltage/time for programming than do the Signetics. They are interchangeable on read but not in programming. |
