Supplies

The following products and supplies are recommended to keep you and your rabbit(s) happy.

This "Bunny Abode" is available from Leith Petwerks for litter trained house rabbits.

It comes in 1, 2 or 3 levels with many options. I recommend that you get the plastic flooring (optional) on all levels (just incase your bunny decides that he wants to eat the carpet!)

This rabbit hutch is available through Sierra Manufacturing. Your bunny will appreciate a nice outdoor retreat during the mild spring weather. Don't forget to lock the hutch at night to keep the raccoons out!
Bunnies can be litter trained, and a litter box with high walls or a guard, are perfect for preventing scatter. Be sure to use NON-CLUMPING litter.
A pet carrier is a must have for trips to the vet.

Heavy ceramic bowls are recommended for food dishes. Or try a "coop cup". It is a stainless steel bowl that rests in a metal ring that can be secured to the cage wires.
Grooming tools:

1] nail trimmer 2] mat brush for longer haired rabbits 3] wire grooming brush 4] bristle grooming brush 5] mitten groomer 6] rubber groomer

Use a large sturdy water bottle or, use a stainless steel bowl (coop cup) secured to the cage wires.

Hay is an essential part of the rabbit's diet. Timothy hay, Oat hay and Alfalfa hay, are some the common types.

All makes of rabbit pellets look similar, however looks can be misleading. If the crude fiber content is less than 16% it is poor quality food. Good pellets have between 18 - 24% crude fiber. Buying in bulk is always cheaper.

Some good brands are:

  • Bunny Basics from the Oxbow Hay Co.

  • Blue Seal Bunny 16 Pels

  • Purina High Fiber Rabbit Chow

  • MannaPro

  • Heinold

  • Harlan Teklad Rabbit pellets
