#72 "ALEC TRONIX" This B-24J-180-CO, serial number 44-40815 was equipped as a radar ferret, as the myriad of antennae indicate. This particular aircraft was assigned to the 436th in October, 1944. Piloted by 2nd Lt. Sheppard, the remainder of her crew consisted of 1st Lts Beard and Shinn, 2nd Lts Short and Smith, F/O Henderson, and Cpls Poplin, Schmitt, Widdons and Zierlein, her primary mission was to detect and anaalyze Japanese radar. In order to carry out this mission she was loaded with so much electronic gear she could not carry any bombs. (Courtesy Michael Bronson)
