10th Air Force INFORMATION
SEARCH
10th Air Force

Very often I am asked for for help in obtaining information about an individual's service with the 10th Air Force. While I am always happy to offer what assitance I can, I am hardly an expert at finding out all there is to know about a specific individual's time in CBI. There are a number of government agencies, and private organizations where you can obtain the help you need to start a search for information. I have listed them below, along with information about them, and a link to their website.

National Archives National Personell
Records Center
National Archives

The National Personell Records Center is the central repository for the service records of all veteran's of the Armed Forces of the United States. Records can be requested ONLY by mail or in person, and are NOT available on line. However, the form required to request a veteran's service records IS avilable on their web site. The form is currently available in the Adobe PDF format, which requires Adobe Acrobat in order to print it out. In order to request the service record of a veteran you must know the following information: Name, Branch of Service, Service or Social Security Number and approximate dates the veteran served. Complete information on how to obtain a veteran's service record is contained on the NPRC web site. Please be aware that the NPRC records division suffered a massive fire in the 1970's that damaged or destroyed about 75% of the records of World War II Veteran's. They have managed to piece together at least some information on most veteran's of that war, however, so a request for information is still well worth the effort. There is no charge for copies of the records they hold.
