Ain't No Stopping Us Now Tour
Spring 1999

WILD 94.9 Skool Spirit Jam
San Jose, CA - Friday February 26, 1999

by Shery

HEY! NSYNC performed at the WILD 94.9 Skool Spirit Jam in San Jose, CA on Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. I'm still deaf! Anywayz before they performed "I drive myself crazy." Chris said that they finished making their video for the song the day before! SO hopefully we'll get to see it on TRL ASAP. Anyway, the only new thing that they did was their beatbox stuff: they did lauren hill's 'doo wop', eminems'my name is,' jay z's 'can i get,' and other stuff. Oh yeah and jc's hair is kinda big now and justin's hair is ultra blonde! hehe. They performed GMHSALMTOY, IDMC, IWYB, TUMH,YGI. Of course, Nsync was da bomb! (this concert was kinda cool b/c the last concert NSYNC did (Dec. 18.1999) was the final one of that 1998 tour . ANd the sorta first one was Feb 26, 1999..before the 1999 arena tour. And they were both in San Jose. SO the ended and began in San Jose!! YAH! :) )

The First Concert of the Tour
Jacksonville, FL
by Heather

I just got home from the very first show of *N Sync's "Ain't No Stopping us Now" tour in Jacksonville, Florida, and it was the best!! If you haven't done so already, get tickets so you can GO SEE THEM!!

My friend Amanda and I left home around 1 this afternoon, and we got to Jacksonville around 2:30 or 3, and we just went straight to the colliseum since we had nowhere else to go. We were really surprised at the number of people already there. After we had parked the car, we got out and walked around some, and I couldn't believe how crazy the fans were. Maybe I should explain that this is the first time that I have seen the guys perform since their showcase in 1995, so I was in no way aware of the great extremes that people go to just to get a glimpse of these guys. It reminded me of the old NKOTB days. lol! But anyway, there were girls everywhere. They were standing around the doors listening to the sound check and going crazy everytime that they could hear anything. They were piled around the area where the buses were parked, and after a while the guys would come out one at a time--usually on a cell phone--just long enough for the girls to see them and go crazy and then they would get back on the bus or head back inside. But we had fun just sitting back watching everyone, and we also made a new friend while we were out there. :0)

Closer to time for the show to start, we met up with some of my friends that I knew from MMC and all (Old School Rules!!), and we hung out with them until the show started. Amanda and I didn't have seats together and they were in the very top sections, so we went and sat with my friends Kim and Tiffany for a while. Their seats were pretty good, and they also happened to be right next to the section where the guys' family members were sitting, so that was cool.
The show opened up with B*Witched. They only performed for about 15 minutes, but they were really good. And then Tatyana Ali came on for about 20 minutes, and she was so awesome. But we missed half of her performance looking for somewhere else to sit because we were run off from the section that we were in by the people who had the tickets for the seats that we were sitting in. So we decided to go and find my friend Sandy who was sitting in the section just to the left and of the stage. And there just happened to be some empty seats right in front of her about 8 rows from the stage, so we sat there and luckily no one ever came to claim them. I couldn't believe that we found unclaimed seats so close to the stage (and we could also see some of what was going on behind the stage from those seats as well--like the guys all starting to pull their clothes off while running off at the end. lol!).

But anyway, we caught the end of Tatyana's show. She even sang a little something of her "brother's"--Men in Black!! :0) She was great. And then after she went off there was short intermission while they got everything ready for the guys to come on.

I wish that I could tell you every little detail and every song that the guys sang, but that would take quite a while. lol!! But I can definitely share some of the highlights with ya!! The show opened up to kind of a space theme with this huge glow-in-the-dark creature thing on stage. It was pretty cool. And then the guys came on and sang a couple of songs, and then they did this decades thing where they showed a few highlights from each decade starting with the 60s and going through the 90s, and then after the highlights for each decade, they came out and performed as a hit group from each decade. For the 60s, they were the Beatles; For the 70s, they were the Jackson 5; For the 80s, I think they were Kool and the Gang (they sang "Celebrate Good Times"); and then for the 90s, they were who else but *N Sync. They showed a lot of video footage on the big screen. During several of the songs, they had the video for that particular song playing behind them. They showed some highlights of fan videos during one song, and then one time while they were changing they played the "You Drive Me Crazy" video (the one where they dress up as the Jackson 5, the Spice Girls, and etc.). That was the first time that I had seen it, and it was so funny. And then For "Sailing" they came out wearing all white and--watch out Garth Brooks--all 5 of them were suspended from the ceiling and at one point were lifted up and they "flew" over the audience for part of the song. It was so cool. I wish I hadn't run out of film by then!! :0P And then they sang a few more songs, and they "flew" over the audience again at the very end. They were on stage for a little bit over an hour. I'm sorry I can't remember every little detail and every song that they sang, but you all just have to go to a show for yourself because from what I have heard about past tours, I think that this will definitely be there best one yet. :0)

'N Sync/ Tatyana Ali/ Blaque Concert
Cox Arena San Diego, CA - April 15, 1999
by Jenny

First things first, let me just say that this concert rocked!! It had to be the best night of my life! When I first bought my tix, I was still in shock that I was able to get front row! After that night, I don't want to settle for anything but front row tix, for any concert, no matter who's performing. Let's just hope that I'm lucky enough.

I arrived at the arena around 5pm to meet up with my friend cuz we planned to give gifts to the guys. I'm not even sure that it got to them, but we included an e-mail addy =P. When I got there, they had already arrived and I was informed that Chris came out a couple of times to walk his dog. I saw Chris's mother and his little sister, Taylor. She was so cute cuz all these girls would ask her for her autograph and she'd sign whatever it was they had asked her to sign. Some girls also started screaming cuz they supposedly saw Justin through the doors of the arena from the top of the parking structure. Some other fans started screaming cuz they thought they saw Tatyana Ali, but it really was one of the girls from Blaque.

Once we were allowed inside the venue, I found my seats and couldn't believe that I would actually be only 3 feet away from the stage. I swear, I thought it was unreal! I spotted Chris's mother and sister in their side-stage seats along with Joey's parents. Later on in the concert, I noticed Danielle Fishel sitting there, too. I heard that Joey's brother took some pre-concert video footage of all the fans, and his father was greeting the fans inside the arena.

The group Blaque was up first. They were pretty good, considering that I only knew one of their songs. During their performance, they threw out 2 shirts that they stole out of 'N Sync's dressing room. Tatyana Ali was on second. She showed much love to San Diego, and I could tell that she really enjoyed being here. She sang very well and her choreography was great.

There was an approximate 10-15 minute intermission before 'N Sync came on. Their stage crew was setting up the stage, and at that point, I happened to see a water gun on stage. However, it was not used during their show. The lights dropped, the screaming started, and the guys came out with this monster-looking puppet in which they were making it dance. Then, they came out in their glow-in-the-dark outfits and did some pha choreography with the glow-in-the-dark rods. That dance routine reminded me of that stage dance troupe, Stomp. They started the show with "Here We Go". I don't exactly remember the order of songs they sand, but I know that the last 3 songs performed were, "Sailing", "I Want You Back", and "Tearin' Up My Heart". The did not perform "Giddy Up", "I Need Love", or "Everything I Own".

My favorite part of the show had to be the tribute medley of the decades. I enjoyed seeing Chris on guitar, Justin on bass guitar, Lance on keyboards, and Joey on drums while they sang "That Thing You Do" for the '60s. Their musical talents amaze me fully. I loved the '70s medley of the Jackson Five's "ABC...123" Their afros and hippie wardrobe was adorable. I think the '80s part of the medley was my favorite. Joey looked so cute in his white suit and hat. The confetti cannons exploded as they sang "Celebrate", and I totally loved the dance moves. The introduction to each decade (shown on the jumbo-tron) was cool with all of the important events that happened during each decade, ending with the start of 'N Sync for the '90s.

During "God Must Have Spent...", towards the end, Justin was playing around with the audience. He'd sing, "...a little more time..." and then be all silent and listen to everyone scream. He'd do it again and Joey and Chris would look at him like he was all weird. =P Just as he finished the song and the all bowed, JC was looking at me!! By the way, JC has gotten rid of his little goatee.

During one of their costume changes, they showed the "U Drive Me Crazy" video. I really want that video on tape. It's so hilarious! They came out to do "Sailing" and that was the highlight of the whole concert. I thought the flying stunt was incredible. They'd do flips in the air and the girls would try and reach up to grab one of their hands. Then, they performed "Tearin' Up My Heart" to close the show. Lance, Joey, and CHris reached out to the fans in the first couple of rows, and I was able to touch Joey and Lance's hands!! I tried to reach for Chris's hand, but I was too far away =(. But, he did wink at me, and Justin winked at my sister!! =P During "That Thing You Do", I waved to JC and he saw me and gave me his beautiful smile!! My sister told me that we were shown on the jumbo-tron screen various times, but I was too busy watching the guys to actually notice if I was on there.

Overall, it was the most fun I had in such a long time!! I can still picture the concert in my head! I took 3 rolls of film and had them developed the next day! Most of them turned out great!! It was such an amazing concert and I hope I can get a ticket to one of their sumer shows. Unfortunately, they aren't coming back to Diego for their summer tour =(. Anyways, I hope all y'all are lucky enough to get front row seats to one of their future concerts. But, even if you aren't able to get those, you'll still enjoy their concerts cuz they put on such a great show!

Minneapolis concert

By Micah

Just wanted to let you know that I'm back from Minneapolis and the concert was awesome!!!

The day started at 4:00 AM on Thursday. We all got up at my friend Amanda's house and started getting ready. We were out the door and on the road by 5:15. On the way we listened to the radio station that was sponsoring the meet and greet. They interviewed JC over the phone (he sounded soo sleepy!!). He made a lot of cracks about Joey staying up too late!! LOL!! We got to the mall around 7:15 and found a spot in line. There were probably 300 people in front of us. But, we didn't really care.

IT WAS CHAOS!!! You guys think I'm obsessed and out of control....you haven't seen anything til you see some of those people!

We staked out our spot and took shifts sitting there. Kathy, Amanda, and Susan were sleeping and a newspaper reporter took our pictures and took down our names and where we were from. Throughout the day, various things happened. I almost lost my wallet. People butted in line. We waited for about 6 and hours for those guys to get there---an hour and a half was spent standing. More than once, people behind us moved too fast and we were packed together like sardines. It was horrible.

Then the most horrible thing happened. We were about halfway to the front. Suddenly, I heard a loud boom and then there were security guards everywhere. Apparently someone had thrown a water balloon and hit Justin and a few fans. That's when JC stood up and said "That's it...I'm outta here." That ended the meet and greet about an hour earlier than planned. It broke my heart to see soo many people crying about it. But I think the thing that upsets me most is that that one person ruined it for everyone. Also, I feel sorry for the guys because they can't feel completely secure in the public.

After that we shopped some and ate. Then we headed to the Target Center. Let me tell you....big city driving is NOT for me!!! I hated every minute of it!!

When we finally got there and found parking (after half an hour of searching), I went to attempt to find Krista ([email protected]), who had my ticket. As soon as I found her, we went in.

I had awesome seats (I could actually feel the fire when it shot up...it was like sitting next to a campfire) and those guys put on an excellent show. The special effects were incredible! And when they flew out over the audience, it was amazing!! I took lots of great pictures. Joey was on my side A LOT!! So I probably have a lot of him, but I tried to get a lot of all the others too. I think I got some really good photos of all of them. When they were standing at the edge of the stage, they were only like 10 ft. from me.

I'd have to say my fave part was the generation thing....they did thing about each decade starting with the 60s. While the guys were changing the big video screen displayed a narration of major events that happened during that decade. Then the guys would come out and sing a song from that decade.

60s--That Thing You Do by the Wonders and wore black velvety pants and red sporcoats....JC sang, Chris played guitar and sang, Joey was on the drums, Lance was on the keyboard, and Justin played bass
70s--A Jackson Five song (I don't know the name) they wore afro wigs and funky threads! Chris sang lead.
80s--Celebration by Kool and the Gang. They came out and my first reaction was ...they look like NKOTB. Joey was in a white suit and in my opinion looked like a "pimp" but in a good way :-) Lance even started the song!! WOO HOO!!
90s--one of their own of course :-)

They also gave us a sneak peak of their vid for "U Drive Me Crazy" which is an awesome track that's on their Winter Album that was released in Europe. I had seen clips, but it still cracked me up!!!

It all feels like just a dream. I honestly can't comprehend the fact that I was that close to them.....it just feels like I watched them on tv.

SPEAKING OF WHICH! The concert was taped for a pay per view special that is set to air sometime in August. So if you check it out (and I highly doubt most of you will) you might see me!!!!

I'm sorry if I bored you, I just wanted to share my awesome experience with you!!! It was a great time, for the most part, and I do not regret missing classes to go :-)
