Exract from Y Gododdin

Hero of the covering shield,
His grey brows under,
Fluid as a charger,
On the battle-slope he was a tumult, a fire;
Spear-swift he was and radiant:
Raven-fodder he became, the prey of crows.
Before his raptor threw him at the ford
At dew-fall, an eagle of masterly movement was he,
Near the seaspray by the hill:
The world’s poets judged him
As the heart of mankind.

"May the road rise to meet you"
