ENDINGIDI
This instrument is popular in the Buganda, Busoga, Ankole, Kigezi, western Nile, and Acholi regions of Uganda. It has got one single string, which is attached to a flexible stick and a cyclidrical sound box. In between the and the sound box is a papyrus reed which acts as a resonator. It is played with a bow.
I play the endingidi as a solo instrument and I use it to play songs that tell stories about great men and women in Africa and also to give advice to my audience.
The endingidi is also a relaxing and a special instrument for spiritual healing.
