BIOGRAPHY

I started my musical journey at an early of 7, by the time I was 15 years I started making travels with my school throughout Africa, Europe and Asia. By the year 2002 I had joined professional groups with which I traveled with to Europe and America. Unlike my travels with my school, where we went to children’s festivals, I have met a number of professional musicians with the travels with my groups. These have helped me experience a lot in terms of the different kinds of music and Dance.

I was born June 9th, 1986 in Lubiri, Uganda. This is the heart of the Buganda region which was incorporated into Uganda. It’s in Lubiri that we have the main palace for the king of Buganda and here different kinds of Kiganda music is played for different occasions. Therefore music is played daily. I grew up near this palace and this gave me an early introduction to drumming and music. And like many young African men, a drum was my first instrument. The drum is the center of rhythm in the music of Buganda and Uganda. It is also a symbol of respect and power in the Kingdom. It’s therefore the pride of every Head of the family to have a drum in their home for music and for communication.
