AMADINDA

The Amadinda has also got varries name for example Akadinda, embaire, entaala, amarimba among others. It has got wooden keys that are resonated in various ways to amplify the tones. Resonators either take the form of small hollow objects beneath each key, a common sound box for all keys and rubber strap in between the keys and the sound box, or even a pit dug into the ground and the keys placed on banana plantains. The musician strikes the keys with mallets of fairly soft wood to produce sound.

The xylophone is tuned in an equidistant pentatonic scale and it has got 15 keys. is a very popular instrument in the Bantu region. I play the amadinda to tell stories about great men in Africa and also send advice to my audience.
