Riddle of the Day

I am never quite what I appear to be. Straight-forward I seem, but it's only skin deep, for mystery most often lies beneath my simple speech. Sharpen your wits, open your eyes, look beyond my exteriors, read me backwards, forwards, upside down. Think critically and answer the question... what am I?

Jellies--Nothing but Maths

Alice, Ben, Charlie, David, and Ed entered a contest to guess how many jelly beans are in a jar. Alice guessed 30, Ben guessed 28, Charlie guessed 29, David guessed 25, and Ed guessed 26. Two were off the mark by 1, one was wrong by 4, and one by 3. But one was correct. How many jelly beans are in the jar at the store?

Who has Fake Gold Coins???

You have ten stacks of identical looking gold coins.
Nine of the stacks contain all real gold coins, and one of the stacks is made up entirely of fake gold coins. Each real gold coin weighs exactly 1 gram, while each fake gold coin weighs exactly 1.1 grams. Using a scale, how can you determine the stack of fake coins?

RULES: You can use to take only one measurement. For example, you stack what you want on the scale, press a button, and get a readout of the weight. You can do this only once, and once the readout is displayed it does not change if you remove any coins.
You can mix the coins up in their stacks, separate them, mark them, whatever. How do you find out for sure which stack contains the fake gold coins?

Who will marry the Princess??

A "Wise King" devised a contest to see who would receive the Princess hand in marriage.
The Princess was put in a 50x50 foot carpeted room. Each of her four suitors were put in one corner of the room with a small box to stand on. The first one to touch the Princess hand would be the winner and become the new King.
The rules of the test were that the contestants could not walk over the carpet, cross the plane of the carpet, or hang from anything; nor could they use anything but their body and wits (i.e. no magic or telepathy, nor any items such as ladders, block and tackles etc).
One suitor figured out a way and married the Princess and became the new King. How did he figure it out?

The man takes his word and cancells his trip. Sure enough the plane crashes and everyone dies. The next morning the man gives the watchman a $1,000 reward for saving his life and then fires him. Why did he fire the watchman that saved his life?

Who will be the king?

A wise King wants an honest child to take his place on the throne. He gives each of his 3 sons a pack of flower seeds and tells them that the one who grows the most beautiful flowers from these seeds will have his throne.
Six months pass and the king checks the flowers. The first 2 had beautiful flower beds while the last child had nothing in his plot but weeds and no flowers. Yet, the king chose this child to have the throne. Why?
