My Parents Satish Kumar Bhardwa (more fondly addressed as Bullu by my Grand Parents) is my father and Sheela Sharma is my mother (though she has no nick name but her name as per her horoscope is Dhanu ).

My Father was born on 17th January 1944 in the historic city of Amritsar and was adopted by my Grand Parents. His biological father was my Grand Father's elder brother. He initially studied in Delhi for few years but soon moved to the valley of Dehradoon, to stay with his Aunt (my Grand Mother's Sister), where he completed his school as well as graduation. After completing his graduation he moved back to Delhi, again not for long. Soon he went to Mathura to do Diploma in Civil Engineering. He was forced to leave his diploma in between and had to move back to Delhi under very dangerous circumstances due to the riots between the two major communities in India. After reaching Delhi he somehow was able to join Delhi Polytechnic, now Delhi College of Engineering. He completed his diploma at the age of 24. He got his permanent job at the age of 27 in MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) as a Junior Engineer. He has never taken his job seriously till date.

Marriage followed soon. He was 25 (too late at that time), didn't have a good Job when he got married on 15th May 1968 (exactly the same day when my wife's parents got married. Coincidence...). My mother was a teacher in the same school where my Grand Mother also use to teach. To be frank she was not his choice at the first place but it was my Grand Mother's choice. My Grand Mother was a dominant personality in our house till the time she died, so I agree with my father that there is nothing much he could have done about it (just kidding...). So it was settled but not before numerous visits by my mother's various relatives: her Parents, Uncle, Cousine etc. etc. etc., to meet their would be son-in-law.

My Mother was born on 22nd Feburary 1944 in the Indian Capital, Delhi (see her family details here). Her father was a head clerk in MCD and her mother was a typical Indian House wife (for more go on). Anyway back to my mother, she is eldermost among her brother and sisters. She is a teacher by profession (and have picked up all the bad habbits of a teacher) and has done Master of Arts in Economics. Though her area of expertise is Economics but I am sure she knows nothing about it. She teaches Hindi and Sanakrit in her school and is quiet good at it (me and my borther and sister never learned a word from her, ironical...).

Their first date... Oh Man what a date it must have been!!! They met at the Kauriya Pool (bridge). This was a small (not very small) over head pedestarian bridge for crossing the rail tracks coming from Old Delhi Railway Station (the one built by the Britishers). Our Family as well as my Mother's family use to stay in the Old Delhi area at that time on the opposite sides of the Old Delhi Raliway Station. My Grand Mother's school was also in the same locality only that it was on our side of the station. My mother use to walk down to her school using the bridge to cross over to this side. There you go... they met for their first date when my mother was on her way back to her place and my Father carried a Pack of Biscuits of her (sooo sweeeeet). From here they walked down to small garden nearby where they were spotted by my Nana (here comes the villian)... oooppphhh what an end to it.... They still recall the day with all the passion and excitement they must have had on that day.

Kids... three in all Lovleesh Kumar Bhardwaj aka Ram, Yamini Sharma aka Guriya and myself Deepak Kumar Bhardwaj aka Sonu. Ram is the eldermost (the big brother and the bad boy) and I am the youngest (novice kid) that leaves my sister (the mature lady) in the middle. We spent most of our time in our childhood with our grand parents rather then our parents. My brother was my Grand Parents favourite and my Sister was very lucky for my Father and myself, well I use to change sides as per the situation and as per my advantage . I think I can say that we were more close to our Grand Parents rather then our parents till the time they lived.
