The department of computer engineering has three well-equipped labs, which provide a suitable working environment to the students to sharpen the skills.

ADVANCED COMPUTER LAB

The lab is equipped with more than 45 high-end computer systems so that there is one system per student. The lab has 64 Kbps lease lie internet connection .Besides the internet access, the students of 2nd Year & onwards use this lab for achieving the expertise in the following softwares :

* Second Year : Programming in C,C++
* Third Year : DB2/VB/VC++
* Final Year : Visual Age Java, Prolog & Projects

The various OS used are :Windows2000,Windows-XP,SCO UNIX & LINUX. Expect for 10 systems which are networked using LINUX, the rest are networked using Windows-2000.
An active research work is being carried out in the area of Fuzzy Logic expert system &genetic algorithms. A group of students have developed a Search Efficient Fuzzy Expert Shell,(SEFES).About 10-12 research papers have been published in connection with this project.



• PC LAB-1
  
  This lab is used mainly to acquaint first year students with personal computers. The students of first & second semester develop their skills in C, PASCAL & FORTRAN.



• PC LAB-2
  
  This lab is equipped with more than 40 graphic workstations and is mainly used by the first, second year and non departmental students for CAD. This lab is interconnected with advanced lab.
  
• COMPUTER WORKSHOP:
  
  This workshop is mainly concerned with the hardware knowledge and skills. It is used by the students for the following:
  Logic Design :The basic concept of logic circuit design is made clear through practicals in the workshop.
  Microprocessor Technology :The workshop is also used by the students to develop skills in the the programming on 8085 & 8086 microprocessors.
  Digital Electronics: To gain deep understanding of the concepts of digital electronics ,student undergo rigorous practical training in the workshop. In addition to above ,the workshop is also used by the students to learn the assembly and maintaince of the computer system.
