Tomal - The Southernmost tip of the Korean Peninsula
Tomal (or Ttangkkut) is the sountern-most part of the Korean Peninsula (though Cheju Island is obviously further south). I traveled here as part of a quick trip around the south with some of my students between the first and second term. As seen on previous pages, the trip also included a visit to Sonam Temple and Nagan fortress town. This was actually my second tour around different areas in the southern part of South Korea, earlier during a brief break our school administrator and pastor took the teachers on a skiing trip, and around different places, including a bath house in Chiri Mountain.

This is part of a seaweed farm (or "sea vegetable" farm as some prefer to call it). It spreads out past the islands. I believe this was a Kim farm, the seaweed used for making Kimpap and sushi.

This is part of the Kim harvest. The raw seaweed is taken to a nearby factory for processing. Tomal (Ttangkkut), or Lands End, is located in Haenam, South Cholla Province. More information is available at the Korean National Tourism Organization website or at the Haenam local government webpage.

This is the Sajabong observatory, which has since undergone renovations. (its way up on top of the hill).

This is an old lookout post for the military and civil defense to monitor the sea approaches to South Korea. It is abandoned now.
