Birth: 31 March 1845 in Hamilton County, Ohio Death: John worked on his father's farm for some years, and then went into the implement, grain and shipping business in partnership with John McConn at Fayetteville, Brown County, Ohio. He was elected Treasurer thereof for 10 years. When the Australian ballot system became law in Ohio, he was appointed one of the Board of Supervisors of Brown County for 4 years. Then in 1893 he was appointed a Travelling Deputy in the U.S. Revenue Service, having 6 counties to look after, where he served 4 years, and then retired back to the farm again, which he worked on an extensive scale.
