Day 13

To day we are going sightseeing on foot

Samedi Octobre 9th Le derniere jour.

Peanuts music

The day was bright and sunny and after breakfast at the hotel, (this was the first place to serve the type of breakfast we were used to, such as cereal and eggs, etc.), we went off on foot to explore the area some more. The bus was not running so we walked au carrefour de Merignac, a shopping center about three kilometers down the road. We shopped around for an hour and then looked for a bus to take us into Bordeaux.

The bus was not coming for an hour or so and we went to call a taxi. A man in a newspaper kiosk wrote a taxi number down for me to call but I could only find a public telephone that you needed to have a special card to be able to use it. I asked a young woman in a travel agency to call the taxi for me. She was just starting this job and she had to ask her supervisor if it was OK to do this. It was and in ten minutes we had our cab. This was another incident of how obliging the people were to help us.

Entrance to the Bordeaux Museum

In Bordeaux, Virginia left her films at a one hour developing place and we went off to the shopping center. Virginia and I wanted to see the Bordeaux museum while Judy stayed and shopped. The museum was small but impressive. The gates and grounds were lovely. This was a part of the city we had not seen before and I would liked to have had more time to explore further. This seems to be the situation when one is traveling, never enough time to do all the things one wants to do.

street mime
Stopped and watched the Mime perform on the street in Bordeaux

Met Judy back at rue St Catherines. Watched a mime perform for awhile, then picked up our films. We went to look pour un magasin du vin and discovered the Bordeaux Opera house as a bonus. Virginnia decided to buy Brian a gift. she selected a very nice, very expensive shirt and tie. Had a great pasta dinner and returned to the hotel by taxi. Before retiring we got organized for the move to Paris to-morrow.

We had a good time to-day
