It
seems like all nu/neo metal "project" started in
Bakersfield (small town west of Death Valley) with "KoRn",
with Jonathan Davis on vocals, Fieldy (wth insane talent imo) on
bass, David Silveria on drums and as for guitars here would be James
"Munky" Shaffer with Brian "Head" Welch.
quoting off. info: "It helped that they all had common
influences-the angry, urban stylings of hip-hop, the heavy,
riff-driven angst of death metal.
They brought 7 strings guitars along with which they created heavy,
depression filled songs with some amazing lyrics...After three wide
popular albums (issues, life is peachy, follow the leader) they
climbed on top ten of almost every alternative/rock stations across
the states and europe.
Ofcourse, "real" metalheads didn`t (and still) want to
confess death/trash influences and neo as part of metal community so
"nu" remained by many on it`s own..
(Just because they actually have some money and fame between some
kids it doesn`t mean they are less "real"...but hell, who
knows...) But on the other hand no one is "pushing" them
into any categories and tries to equal that style with other ones...
New generation of fame-wannabe bands are ofcourse flooding this
unique genre...after one or two excellent tracks they fall under
marketing influences and other shit that keeps destroying talents.
One of them are limp bizkit, linkin park etc. They are with every
right today called rock boy bands and i vote for that one also...
Today`s
kids are switching from Britney fucking Spears to Papa Roach or
something...it makes lots of people sick and they are just skipping
nu just becouse of it. All theise marketing bullshit, it will quite
down eventually, nu metal scene will some day remain with few
talented bands, i still hope and assume.. Today`s bands with big
future are definetely system of a down together with chimaira and
"old-schoolers" deftones and korn, with huge number of
those expecting their`s 10min. of fame...
"True"
or not...who knows, to be honest who really gives a fuck, it`s all
about the music after all..
