HISTORY OF METAL MUSIC

Heavy metal and heavy rock are two forms different into a same musical style based on the rock. Its origins date from end of sixties, although same precursors have been from years ago, and their music is an evolution of that psychedelic rock that become from year 1965.

Another one of its main influences  was the blues and also the rhythm & blues, everything which came together in a powerful base of thunderous battery, a bass that marked the rhythm and the guitars that become the main protagonist, these had that be powerful in the high possible number, and with abuse of distortion a and volume; a signal of identity of this music are the longs and baroque dots of electric guitar.

The fashion of heavy, musician as much follower is also a known stereotype. Tights pants of leather, sport shoes or leather boots, leather t-shirts with the max possible long hair, symbol of identity of all heavy. Possibly the people to charge of this stereotype are Judas Priest and also they put two guitars in a band.

The social importance of this movement has not been the one that had Punk for example, but in the seventies it was one of youthful movements of great diffusion. In spite of it, it did not have the social repercussion that had others movements related to music. The expression “Heavy Metal” appears for first time in one of the stories of great writer underground American William Burroughs when he names to the Heavy Metal Boy. This was the year of 1961 and time later Barry Gifford used also this term in the Rolling Stones magazine.

First, there were good bands but actually the first band of heavy metal was Black Sabbath. Sabbath began in the year of 1968 as a band of blues called Earth. Later they decided to change the name for Black Sabbath, influenced by poster of a movie of terror that taken the same name. They also decided to begin to write songs that musically were equivalent to movies of horror, of this form was born HEAVY METAL
