Documentation of the Development Process

Hi I'm Lisa, I have been practicing and teaching yoga for many years and during this journey I have been fortunate enough to have amassed quite the following. While many of my students and fellow yogis typically know where to find me I understand it can be difficult to track me down as I work at a handful a different studios across the north coast of MA; so I had this website created to make it easier for everyone to know where I will be teaching and when! The site will also provide pricing for private lessons, it will display a few of my online classes (including a link to my YouTube page) and will link you to the studios I'm currently working at. I'm hoping this will be a helpful tool to my fellow yogis stay connected with me and to continue practicing in their own time!

The steps to create this website were done sequentially, I chose a theme that I had a passion in, I thought about what the target audience would be and what they would like to see on this website. Living with a yoga instructor helped as I could bounce my ideas off her to see if it would be something she would use on her actual site if she were to create one at some point.

Defense of the Final Product

Home page: for the home page I created a quick logo with colors that my girlfriend liked which were the yellow, tan, and black. I then used the colors from the logo for the look of the site so I ran with black text and a grey back ground to make the logo pop more on the page. I then added a uplifting generic yoga quote below the logo as i figured it would be the first thing people would read as they came to the page, figured it would make for a nice greeting. The image at the bottom of the page is something my girlfriend created on her own time and I wanted to incorporate it in the final site design.

Online Classes: for this page, I found a nice image I decided would be good for the background as the light colors should not make it hard for folks to read the text over. I then added 3 levels of classes a beginner, intermediate and finally weight loss video before providing a YouTube image to link students to her Youtube page if they wanted more classes to choose from.

Class Schedule: for this page I provided a Sunday-Saturday table to help lay out when, where and the type of class she will be teaching. After the table, I provided image links to each of the studios she teaches at so students can sign up ahead of time.

Private Lessons: for this page I displayed what classes she is willing to teach privately and the price for each class to be taught. At the bottom of the page there is a form interested students can fill out and Lisa will respond back to confirm and schedule a date. Overall, each page is straight forward, professional and end users should not have any issues with navigation.

Opportunities for Improvement:

For improvements I definitely need to figure out how to use a grid system properly, each time I tried it just didn't look the way I wanted it to so I reverted to centering most of the content on each page. I also wanted to have the background image not duplicate itself, but I decided it looked fine as is. As for adding new pages I would think a livestream page would be cool, so she can teach classes virtually but in a live format. Anther page we could implement is proper dieting and exercise routines.
