From 1979 to 1981, the School of the Holy Spirit of Quezon City was a satellite school of the College of the Holy Spirit of Manila. It was established in accordance with the government's plan of "decongesting educational institutions to expand to the outskirts of Metro Manila area or nearby provinces". The cornerstone of the school was laid at Capitol Hills near interim Batasang Pambansa on May 20, 1978.
In the school year 1979 - 1980, the school offered Kindergarten up to the First Year high school with an initial enrollment of 847. The next school year showed a marked increase in enrollment and the elementary building had become too small for the expanding population which had risen to 1,229. So, the construction of the high school building was begun and the latter was ready for occupancy in June 1981.

The Mission Congregation of the Servants of the Holy Spirit is caught up in the mission of the church to proclaim the Good News of the saving love of the Triune God to all peoples and make them witnesses of this love to all. The School of the Holy Spirit of the Quezon City is one of the instruments of this S.Sp.S. Mission.
We believe that SHS is committed to the total human development of its students as maturing images of the indwelling Triune God. Therefore, the school provides opportunities for their God-given talents (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual and social) to be recognized, appreciated, enhanced and used to develop themselves for the service of others specially the poor. The School of the Holy Spirit, as agent of change, believes in its duty/call to contribute to contribute towards the transformation of society through its graduates, as they help build Christian communities wherever they may decide to live and work. We believe that in this way, the human person will arrive at his/her eternal destiny.
We believe that parents have the primary duty to educate their children. SHS assists them and works with them as partners.
