"Now in Dreams"
BBFC #3
Joaquin shut the doors to the theater as he left. It was almost two in the morning, and the San Fransisco night life was wearing down. Somewhere a girl was crying and he wanted to find her, but he really did need to get home. With a sigh, he turned in the direction of his penthouse and hurried toward it.

Across the hall, Sarah heard Joaquin pound up the stairs. She opened the door in her flannel pants and tee shirt. Joaquin stopped and smiled.

 "Sarah, hi."

"Hey Quin. Another long night?" Sarah embraced him.

"Yea. You know, I could be like that. I would give anything just to live one day in those shoes."

"Joaquin, you know not what you ask for. If you could be like that, what would you do?" Joaquin flinched at the truth in her statement and shut Sarah outside his door.

"What would I do?"  he sighed against the pressboard.

He spends his nights in California
Watchin' the stars on the big screen
And then he lies awake and he wonders
Why can't that be me?
'Cause in his life
He's filled with all these good intentions
He's left a lot of things
He'd rather not mention right now
Just before he says goodnight
He looks up with a little smile at me
And he says. . .
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day
In those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?
Now in dreams we run. . .

Sarah dropped her sketch pad on the park bench and situated herself on the hard metal grating. Quickly she sketched a couple walking by. She shaded their faces and rubbed her neck. Sarah's mind drifted lazily and she wondered if she should move out of the city scene. Maybe to a quiet suburb where se could raise a family with a wonderful man. She shuddered as shots rang out and an alarm went off.
"That's not too much to ask, is it?" Sarah whispered to her drawing. "All I want is to be like that. I would give anything to live just one day in those shoes." Gently, she shut her sketchbook and left.

She spends her days up in the North park
Watchin' the people as they pass
And all she wants
Is just a little piece of this dream
Is that too much to ask?
With a safe home
And a warm bed
On a quiet little street
All she wants is just
That something to hold on to
That's all she needs
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day
In those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?

Music blared through the dance hall. Sarah sank slowly into some guy's arms and leaned her head onto his shoulder. She could think of nothing more than pulling out and running away.

Fallin into this
In Dreams,
We run away.

Joaquin spun the red head around in a circle. He wished with all his might that he was somewhere else. Finally the song ended and he rushed outside, only to find Sarah sobbing into her hands on the steps. With all the pride he could muster, he swept her up and kissed her deeply.

Fallin in. . .
I feel I'm falling in
To this,
Again.
