Samba de Amigo-an introduction
(This is a game that
everybody should play.)
Basically, Samba de Amigo is a game available only in (a very few) arcades and for the Dreamcast. It involves picking up a pair of maracas and shaking them. Shaking them high, shaking them low, shaking them somewhere in between, and always shaking them to the beat. The beat of music...
Here's how it works.
On the TV screen, you'll see 6 circles arranged in a hexagon. Balls will come out of the centre of the hexagon and move into one of the circles making up this haxagon. When a ball moves into a circle, you need to shake a maraca. If the ball moves into a circle at the top, you shake the maraca high. If it moves into a lower circle, you shake the maraca low. If it moves into one of the circles half-way in between, you shake the maraca somewhere in between. If the circle, which the ball moved into, lay on the right, you shake the maraca on the right. If the circle lay to the left, you shake the marace to the left.
You get the idea (I hope).
Then, every time you make a correct move, a little bar rises. Eventually, your ranking will go from a C to a B to an A. However, if you make a mistake, the little bar will go down, and your ranking will most likely go from C to D to E to F. Then, you'll fail and it'll be 'Game Over'.
As well as blue and green balls, you sometimes get a pose, an arm movement, or some red balls.
Every so often, a still figure will appear and you must try to copy his pose as closely as possible. You wil either be credited or penalised depending on whether you got it right or not.
Sometimes, (if you're playing a later version) the figure will be moving his arms. Again, you must try to copy him.
When red balls appear, you must simply shake the maracas in the correct position as quickly as you can. The more times you shake it, the more your bar will grow.
Eventually, the song will be over, and you'll pick another song and do it all again.
Eventually, you'll get tired, but you'll be enjoying yourself so much that you'll forget about your aching arms, and just carry on for as long as you can. The adrenaline will keep you going, and you'll be loving every minute of it.
Eventually tho', even the adrenaline will have worn off, and you'll have to stop.
However, you'll most probably play again as soon as you can.
Because Samba de Amigo is a great game.
