Bomberman-an introduction.
(To any normal person,
blowing up stuff with bombs is clearly enjoyable.)
Since you clicked on the link on the preceding page, I must assume that you wish to read an introduction for people who have never played Bomberman.
Well, you're in luck. Because that is exactly what I shall attempt to create.
An introduction to Bomberman in a question and answer format.
So... What's this 'Bomberman' all about?
Well, it's a game played by people of all nationalities and all ages. Basically, it involves running around, blowing other people up using bombs.
Isn't that a bit vicious?
Not really. You see, it's a computer game.
Why didn't you tell me that before?
Well, I thought that it'd be obvious, considering that this is in the 'Computer Games' section.
Point taken. So what exactly does this game involve?
Well, you control a little man and when you press a button you lay a bomb. The bomb's blast then kills people and destroys weaker blocks, sometimes revealing items. You carry on laying bombs and blowing things up and collecting items (trying not to kill yourself with your own bombs) until you die, or you've killed everyone else. Then you do it again.
That sounds a bit boring and, well... crap.
It isn't. Get a few people with a pad in their hands playing Bomberman, and it could turn out to be a superb evening. The basic rules are quite easy to pick up, but there are infinite strategies which can be employed. You might find one guy who storms the joint and just goes straight out to kill, whilst another might avoid combat, leave other people to kill themselves, and then come in and finish off the survivors. It's a genuine reflection of your personality.
Sounds great! How can I play it?
Man, your opinion's pretty easily changed, isn't it?
Well, there are many Bomberman games available, but don't get one of the 3D N64 ones. The traditional ones play much better. If you have a Playstation, you can pick up a copy of Bomberman for that, and you should really try to get a multitap as well.
You could also try to get a Snes, which has mutliple versions of Bomberman available for it. A Snes, multitap and a copy of and Super Bomberman game shouldn't set you back too much, and it'll bring you hours and hours of fun.
If you want more help in deciding which Bomberman game to get, then my reviews and comparisons should be up soon. In the meantime, you could always e-mail me if you have any specific questions.
As some might say, try it. You might like it...
