After the chapel, the next sequence will be shot down in the park. At this point the director asks us to stayup there while they film which is no problem whatsoever. He tells me he´ll leave Kenneth in the park when they are finished so I can do some portraits of him. After about an hour or so the camera man kindly comes up and apologizes that we couldn´t be there as they were doing wide shots etc. I tell him not to worry ,the last thing we want to do is to be in the way. We go down to the park and I do some quick portraits of Kenneth. It all takes about three minutes. The director ,who´s been "giving us the eye"throughout the afternoon ,now looks me up and down as I´m photographing Kenneth, and lets out a loud sneer and walks off. I don´t see him actually doing it ( I hear it ) but my girlfriend watches him and tells me. We were never in the way of anything so there´s no need for that. I feel like walking up to him and asking him what´s his problem is but as Kenneth didn´t get any of this and I don´t want to upset him or disturb things I leave it at that. So after all that we bid our farewells to Kenneth ,who thanks us again for coming out here. They head for the Prominente quarters. We head for Pension Albertberg where we always stay when in Colditz. Pension Albertberg is in the "Albertberg " part of Colditz. It´s a lovely old villa and Frau Annegrete Kästner is the lady of the house.I was reccommended it by Kenneth Lockwood who stayed there in 1999 during the filming of the "Escape from Colditz" documentary series.

It´s a very cosy and quiet place with some original vintage furniture to die for. The rooms are spacious with en-suite bathroom and television. Frau Kästner personally serves the coffee at breakfast or will fetch you a very nice bottle of local wine from her cellar for €5. Don´t forget to ask to see the guestbook where you will find an entry by Kenneth. Dinner time and we head for Sophienplatz to the only restaurant there and also the only restaurant that seems to be open this time of year in Colditz. It turns out to be the best I´ve been to in this town. |
