Still pretty damp

We hit the road really early, as we will reach the Prairies soon. Map

As we approach Kenora and Lake of the Woods, there are still
lots of rock and thick forests but the trees are smaller and the
roads are getting longer views. It was very misty to begin with
but it had cleared when I took this. We are beginning to see a
lot of birds, including a Canada goose family by the road.

We came to a beautiful little town with trees and gardens, right
on the highway. We had never heard of this town, Neepawa,
but we liked it so much that we found a motel and stayed.

We thought the town looked very much like our home, Oakville,
in Southern Ontario, and when we found a plaque that said the
town was settled by people from Southern Ontario, we knew why.
There were also some amazing heritage perennial plants, a lily
festival later in the summer and Margaret Lawrence's childhood
home.
