Sunny, probably, bit too early to tell...

We are heading out early to cross the Kootenay mountains and reach the Prairies today.

Because of the height of the mountains, it can be broad daylight up there on the peaks while it is quite dark below.

This picture was taken ten minutes after the previous one.

This is almost the end of our visit to the mountains. I have taken a lot more photographs than I have posted.

It is truly beautiful with ever lovelier vistas at each turn.

The sun is up but the clouds are lingering. It's going to be a lovely day.

We have a real treat just before we leave the Park. There is a speed limit through the park at night because of the wildlife. We have already seen some deer.

We stopped to stretch and admire the view when something moved through the long grass just across the road.

It's a full grown wolf. It seems to be looking around to cross the road further along. It has a good look at us and has apparently decided we are harmless.

We aren't so sure about him. More

The next thing we know, we are out of the hills and heading across Alberta towards Sasketchewan.

We have loved the Prairies each time we have visited

This is farming country but it is all very dry and seems to be mostly hay and cattle.

The skies are wonderful.

Two structures stand out on the Prairies.
Below:

The large construction at the back is a grain silo, collecting wheat to be shipped out by rail. The red machine at the front is an oil pump, quite common around here where there is both oil and natural gas underground.

The trees probably shelter a farmhouse. There are virtually no trees except those planted for shelter. More
