Today we were out and about in Prince Rupert spotting bald eagles. The trees were full and there were thirteen of them sitting in a line along the wharf. The local small birds tend to fly low and fast.

The carved poles, which are all over this town are actually decorations for the front of longhouses, built of massive timbers by local people up to the last century.

Prince Rupert started as a railway town, at the end of the new line. The building in the background dates proudly from 1928.

There is very little high rise and the buildings along the main street are generally rather older. Prince Rupert is a lovely town to walk in even with the soft rain that reminds me of the West of England.

We are heading over to the Queen Charlotte Islands later this week and may be out of contact.
