Then go to the Interpreting Your Answers section at the bottom of this page to determine your Vastu personality type.
Interpreting Your Answers If you chose for the majority of the answers: [ a ] [ b ] [ c ] [ a ] Vata, which animates us, controls all the body's movement from our breathing and blinking to the flow of thoughts to the mind and their conversion into action. Typical vata behavior mirrors the properties of the wind. Vata people prefer activity to inactivity, tend to fidget, and are apt to toss and turn at night. The wind can unexpectedly change directiona characteristic that shows up as indecision and fickleness in vata individuals, especially when vata is over stimulated. Vata disorders, such as cracking joints, dry skin, constipation, and nervous stomach, also connect to the wind. [ b ] Pitta, which governs the body's metabolism, shares the properties of fire and the sun. The sun regulates the earth's temperature; pitta regulates the body's temperature. Pitta burns our food and creates the calories that give us energy. Pitta people also tend to reflect the symbols of enlightenment and clarity that are attached to the sun. They are often intelligent and exhibit good judgment. Just as too much sun burns our skin, too much pitta turns up our body's heat and creates fevers. It can cause prickly heat and other skin disorders. Excess pita also heats up the digestive process and produces acidity. On an emotional level, the generally warm pitta personality can turn fiery. [ c ] Kapha, which is the body's lubricant, is wet and oily. Kapha creates heaviness and density, and the coldness that we associate with winter. Kapha lubricates our joints, provides the mucus in our membranes, and keeps the moisture in our skin. Kapha binds our cells together and gives the body its strength. Kapha also heals the body and reinforces the immune system. The kapha body is usually sturdy and may carry extra pounds. Kapha people may move slowly, but they have lots of endurance. The kapha temperament is calm and forgiving. The kapha mind may absorb knowledge slowly; but the kapha memory is excellent. Excess kapha leads to sinus problems, respiratory illnesses, obesity, and lethargy.
