The Seven Universal Principles of Lifeskills

5. Abundance and Gratitude

Abundance is an aspect of perfection and is the natural state of the universe. We are always experiencing abundance. Goethe had said, "only learn to seize good fortune, for good fortune’s always here."

However, to have abundance in our lives requires a willingness to recognize that it is always available and we need only open ourselves to receive it.

God has made sure that the universe is abundant. We all deserve these great abundance in our lives. Look around you and He had amply provided the resources.

He also provided as the innermost strength and talent and yet we are saying, "I can’t do a business because I don’t have the experience, education or capability ." It is already there within us but we have not used it.

We are just too slothful to make a move and multiply it. In the Bible-based "Parable of Hidden Talents," one man just hid the "talents" while the two others multiplied the "talents" given by their Master who went abroad.

Instead, we acquired negative beliefs, habits, and patterns that abundance became harder to see.

Consider that it is what we focus upon abundantly, that will grow. If we focus our substantial effort and attention to our work or business, we will prosper.

Success is getting what you want by focusing our energy on achieving what we want.

Where do people focus their attention abundantly?

On what is not there. They always say they don’t have the money, even if they still have coins or something left in their wallets. If they focus on multiplying that scarce money left, they will have lots of money.

People focus on how hard their jobs are but they’re not grateful enough when some people don’t have jobs. They have no gratitude. So they continue to look at their jobs as hard labor.

Happiness is wanting what you get. It’s just a matter of shifting our minds.

People focus abundantly on their fear and impossibility of opening up a business that they remain poor and just subsisting on daily wages.

In life, we are often distracted by small disappointments, and we forget the innumerable blessings we receive from the Lord. You are still alive or healthy, you have a supportive wife or beautiful children, you still have a house, three meals a day, and most of all, you still have a future!

Rather than concentrating on the trials of life, we should fix our attention on its blessings. Let us say, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits" (Psalm 68:19).

Ask for the free gifts of wisdom and understanding from the Holy Spirit. King Solomon became abundant when he asked them, and all of God’s true servants.

Lack of any kind in life is a direct message that we are failing to love ourselves. Loving will allow us to consciously direct tremendous abundance in our lives. Gratitude is the key to directing abundant energy.

So begin now to consciously express gratitude for your world.

To experience the total abundance in our lives, we must think and feel abundance all around us, becoming aware, through conscious gratitude, moment by moment.
